That last post is actually terribly old.. I’ve had my myriad of emotions since then, when I was stuck in only one. Of course, that’s what I’m used to–being only one emotion or none at all, and having several of them estranged me at the time. I’ve calmed down a lot and take emotions easily at this point, I assure you, and everything is well.
It’s already about time for Christmas, actually.. I don’t really do gifts too much. When I was little, I could always see myself becoming like Scrooge because I don’t give gifts, and I am not particularly fond of receiving them. When I do gift-give, it is usually only to one or two people.
German is becoming difficult, but we just had a review lesson, so it’s not so difficult anymore xD I suppose I should start to translate things that I read and write into German since I don’t have worksheets and all that to depend on for practice–just my good old self. But I’m learning well and taking it all in. Sometimes I need help from my dictionary and an online translator [since my class is online], but everything else is fine.
I have a storyline going on.. and I won’t lose this one this time! It’s an incredibly important storyline, and yeah, it may seem a little cliche to those who don’t know the reality behind it, but I would like to illustrate or write it out. Either one. Lol. Can you see my grammar skills?
I’ve been very tired lately, but producing art. Sort of. November was a dead month for me.. I got nothing done. I mean.. absolutely nothing. I had medical problems to boot that month, and they all came from nowhere. Head injury; heart problems; endless fatigue; bleeding from my nose, mouth, and various other holes in my body; and moodiness all encompassed the entirety of November, as well as English and finals for criminology and testing for German. And NaNoWriMo, which I obviously failed. Amidst all of that was Travis. So yeah.. November war nicht so gut. However! A post for all the things I’ve done so far!!

Trippin’ on Art

Since the school year started, I’ve had the chance to doodle more in class, and I’ve been terribly inspired by my boyfriend Travis’s art and daily doodles. I’ve also been looking at fantastic artwork on deviantART.com by some extravagant artists in my WATCH. World of Warcraft is certainly inspiring, along with my most recent religious studies and a joyful impending future, as well as the steadily increasing number of novels I’ve been reading and pondering, and the German language is beautifully enchanting! The smallest words–English or German–influence my imagination into a trip of ecstasy, and I can’t help but scribble my thoughts or emotions onto a sheet of paper lest I run my mind into a craze for deprivation of expression. Before this, I had shut my heart away due to moving several states away from Home in Pennsylvania, and I feel like I am just now getting it back again and rightfully recording its actions through images on paper. Life is going very well, and there is not an ailment in my life that could possibly overcome this most recent infatuation with art and love and religion.
The book I’m reading at the moment is for AP English: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde It’s absolutely frustrating, but it’s a good book anyway. I would very much like to see Dorian Gray in a coffin, his once beautiful face destroyed by the icy hand of death and his malicious heart frozen as cold stone. Sybil Vane’s tragedy is heart-wrenching. I think I would simply grope for Dorian’s throat and shred it. Yes, he and Harry are the villians here!
But anywho, lawls.
Despite the nearly guaranteed side-effects of my Accutane (a pill I take daily to rid myself of this horrid acne) that the user will become depressed and have thoughts of suicide, I have never seen a happier episode in my life. Yes, I do have a history of depression and dangerously irrational thoughts, but now I ask myself how I could have ever been in such a mood. Of course, when one is in ‘such a mood,’ it’s nearly impossible to think of how to have ever been happy, often to the point of forgetting exactly what it means to truly smile. What predictable irony! Yes, woes plague me, cries in the night by those whom I love, terrors of death and betrayal and that morose feeling of nostalgia, but the depths of my most recent infatuations most certainly retreat those things to the back of my mind. Even when pondering my nightmares and thoughts of terror, I am inspired! A reconnection with my heart is certainly terribly pleasurable.
I wonder if this should be happening or not.
Isn’t it usually those things that are pleasurable that we should be oppressing?

Sorry, folks! I’ve been tearing away at my Summer homework. I’m taking AP English as a Senior in high school, and I have to be ready! hee hee. The book that is currently bogging me down is Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. It’s a generally good book, except it drives me crazy. Ellison writes in accordance to exotic emotions and portrays them too well for me… I’m an extremely cognitive person, so much so that the very mention of a heart puzzles me because I don’t use it except to love my other half. Yes, I get angry and sad [mostly sad xD], but I rarely feel them in my heart, and it’s never that nauseating feeling in my chest. It’s more like an awareness that I have blood coursing through my body. So… when Ellison describes emotions in an exotic sense, I become very bemused.
And… I’m quite tired of African American pre/post/Civil War stories. Coming from the North, we had to read maybe one or two throughout our entire high school occupancy. However, upon moving down to North Carolina, I find myself being told to read several throughout the Semester, and to be perfectly honest with you, I’m getting extremely bereft of interesting literature from which I can learn.

But anywho.
I have a new printer! I’m thinking of doing that Face Your Pockets thing again: Face Your Pockets, which I did in Pennsylvania about a year ago. I’m thinking of making it an annual thing… maybe every New Years, or my birthday type thing. Something to say–HEY, I survived another year! I will be using an HP printer scanner copier [psc]. It’s really niiiiiccce… I’m completely satisfied with it! If I can get some photo paper, I can probably sell prints after some time, as well as getting a paypal account etc.
Hee hee, but first thing’s first. Summer homework, Face Your Pockets, and then more art.

In the mean time, I’m working on this! 25 Essential Emotions I’m using Tempre… She’s so much fun to draw!! Speaking of which, I never finished this one, buuuuuuut, I’ll let you see it anyway!

I don’t think I’ll be finishing it… I was working on the wood the other day, and I ended up just putting my stylus down for the simple fact that I couldn’t figure out how to do it T_T I’ll have to have someone show me how to configure the bark on a tree digitally. I can do it just fine traditionally, but on photoshop…? HA.

Anywho, there’s your update xD I’ll scan something asap =]

I pretty much live off of this stuff. T_T
Mutter wants me to paint more giraffes, but she doesn’t realize that the giraffe spectrum of my art is reserved for Travis. I suppose I shouldn’t be so sentimental when it comes to my art, but… this is something that I don’t think I’m willing to work with. She gave up this morning after I specifically said no, she can’t have any giraffes, and even as my mother, it does not give her free access to all my pieces and their themes. I’m on her bad side now, and even if I did paint her giraffes at this point, she would not be satisfied.

I really have nothing else to call my posts. Hopefully, my titles will start to become more and more creative as time goes by. … hopefully.

I have two little things to sample today. One is a character sheet, another a simple sketch of something this character gets chased by. The character’s name is Tempre, and she is a fennec fox from the desert tribe of Xkazu. She knows tribal magic and is quite good at it, having the best training available because of her status–tribe princess. Unfortunately, her tribe is pillaged by pirates, a rather inconvenient happening for those who live by the Nile as she did. She finds herself stranded in the desert, alone, hot, and quickly dehydrating. All she can do is walk and hope…

That’s all about her for now. The Spidat is a crossing between a cat and a spider. This humungous creature buries itself under the great sand dunes and leaves only its whiskers above the surface, so when something trips over them, the Spidat will feel its prey lurking above. They’re pretty gigantic… Tempre, a petite female, is about half as tall as its face.

There comes a time in every man’s life where he looks at all he’s done and says, “gee wiz, I wish!” I’m happy to tell you that I’m not quite at that point, ha ha. Ich heiße Shinta, aber mein Name ist Natalie Berkey. As for the rest of my introduction, I’m 17, for those of you who were lacking in that knowledge, and I am a developing artist fixing to be an art therapist and a writer of sorts… though I doubt the writing will go anywhere in particular, it’s always good to have a hobby such as language arts. I’m deeply intrigued by languages, especially those of the Germanic heritage, seeing as I have German ancestry. You may find that I have a nasty habit of speaking in different dialects throughout my posts, few of which I have gone more than 3 years into studying. I have had some years of Spanish and one of German, and I have picked up on a small amount of French along the way. I desire Russian and Finnish vocabularies, and I’ve indulged in and developed my native speaking tongue of English.

Now that you have some sort of introductory post, I would like to tell you that I am rather excited for this blog. It is a good break from deviantART, in which I have resided for several years, and it seems to be a good ground for the intellectual harvest, encouraging innate creativity and establishing a sense of comfortable blogging. You will find sketches and doodles here, practice and produce, and hopefully something that is pleasing to the eye. I am also looking for critique in such a site as this, as well as useful commenting and common sense. It will be good to post art without feeling the terrible threat of being flamed for some ridiculous reason crafted by those with small lives.
